         Welcome Long Eaton

Long Eaton twinning began in 1961 between the town and Romorantin-Lanthenay, in the Loire Valley region of France, initially with contacts between the two town's rugby clubs.

Ten years later Langen near Frankfurt in Germany was invited to join the existing twinning.

The objective and aims of the association are to promote good relations and exchanges of all types between Long Eaton and its twin towns.

Visits take place each year with one town acting as host to the other two towns in rotation. In 2009 we and our German friends will visit Romorantin, in 2010 we and our French friends will go to Langen and in 2011 both our French and German friends will come to Long Eaton. Members stay with host families in their homes.

Some entertainment and visits to local places of interest are arranged by the host towns twinning association.

Some of our members have been twinning for many years and have made lots of friends, some arranging private visits, on an individual or family basis, between the official visits.

Come along to one of our informal "get togethers" held at the Long Eaton Indoor Bowls Centre, Station Road, Long Eaton. [held every two months on a Tuesday evening]. You don't have to live in Long Eaton to be a member.

If interested in joining the association you can do so by making a payment of £10 per person, £1 for students (both are annual subscription costs).
